The name FIGJAM came to me after I started “unofficially” blogging several years ago. I don’t recall what exactly the situation was but I loved the inherent arrogance and sarcasm of the statement.
What, you ask, is the statement? What does it stand for?
Fuck I’m Good – Just Ask Me.
That seems like what the world is about these days, isn’t it? Blow your own horn? The more people blow smoke up your ass the better you must be, right? I mean, people wouldn’t LIE to you – would they?
Anyway, I have been on the good old Internet since before the mid-90s, before the dot-com boom and bust… before Google, and Yahoo, and all these other huge things existed. I wish I’d been smart and bought stock then, but I was broke enough back then as it was – and with my luck I would have put money in the companies that failed, not the ones that succeeded. I’ve been writing online messages, ranting in posts, editorializing and sermonizing electronically for pretty much 20 years, back to the days of the electronic dial-up BBS system.
Until I started this blog as a real bona-fide Weblog on Blogger back in late 2004/early 2005 I did most of my gnashing and stomping on usenet and message boards. I still do that, sometimes.
But for the most part, it is here. In my space, on my terms.
Because here, I can truly live by the credo:
